Team Trials' Skier Packet Now Available

The Skier Informational Packet (PDF) for the 2014 U.S. Junior Water Ski Team Trials is now available for download. The team trials will be held June 28-29 at Cedar Creek Water Ski Park in Elkins, Ark. The two-round world-record capability water ski tournament will be used to select the four-member U.S. Junior Water Ski Team that will be defending its title at the 15th Junior Water Ski World Championships, Jan. 8-11, 2015, near Lima, Peru.

Five U.S. Teams Win Gold At Pan Ams

Regina Jaquess won gold medals in Women's slalom, jumping and overall.Five U.S water ski teams – Elite, Under 21, Under 17, Over 35 and Over 45 – competing in the 2014 Pan American Water Ski Championships earned overall team gold medals at the biennial event, April 14-19, at Club Los Lagartos in Bogota, Colombia. The U.S. Under 13 Water Ski Team earned the overall team silver medal. Athletes on the six U.S. teams combined to earn 64 individual medals, including 23 of a possible 48 gold medals. In addition, in composite team scoring (among all teams/divisions), the United States had the top score with 45,534 points. Canada was runner-up with 31,720 points, and Colombia was third with 25,068 points.

Disabled Nationals Set For Aug. 29-31

The Water Skiers with Disabilities Association (WSDA), a sport discipline organization of USA Water Ski, is pleased to announce the 23rd Disabled Water Ski National Championships, sponsored by the Shepherd Center and the Barbara Bolding/Jim Grew Foundation, will be held Aug. 29-31 at Whitestone Lake Estates in Talking Rock, Ga.

Canada's Miller Wins Big Dawg Opener

Canada's David Miller won the first stop of the 2014 Nautique Big Dawg World Slalom Tour, presented by O’Brien, on Sunday at Boca Laguna in Guadalajara, Mexico. Miller defeated U.S. athlete Chad Scott (Covington, La.) in the head-to-head finale, scoring 1 buoy at 41 feet off to Scott’s 5 buoys at 38 feet off. Hall of Fame Inductions This Weekend

Cheryl Orloff will be the 67th inductee into the USA Water Ski Foundation's Water Ski Hall of Fame.The USA Water Ski Foundation will hold its 32nd annual hall of fame induction ceremony on Saturday night at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Fla. Cheryl Orloff will be the 67th inductee into the USA Water Ski Foundation’s Water Ski Hall of Fame, which is located in Polk City. The 2014 Award of Distinction recipients are: Mike Botti, Danny Churchill, Dave Goode, Charlotte Melchers and Sherm Schraft.

Champions Crowned At All-American

Savannah Scott of Naples, Fla., placed third in 180-Degree Swivel.Event winners in swivel, doubles, freestyle jumping and barefoot endurance were crowned at the 2014 All-American Water Ski Show Tournament, April 5-6, on Lake Silver in Winter Haven, Fla.

Peru To Host 2014 Junior Worlds

Following the recent cancellation of the 2014 Junior Water Ski World Championships scheduled for August in the Ukraine, the Peru Water Ski Federation has agreed to host and organize the 15th biennial event at Lake Bujama near Lima. The dates will be Jan. 8-11, 2015.

Athletes Of The Month Selected

Erika LangUSA Water Ski has selected Freddy Krueger (Winter Garden, Fla.) and Erika Lang (Gilbert, Ariz.) as its Male Athlete of the Month and Female Athlete of the Month, respectively, for March. Krueger and Lang are now eligible for the United States Olympic Committee’s Athlete of the Month honors.
